Q&A

1) Can I drive a boat if I have not driven a boat before?

Yes you can! No boat driving license is required in Greece up until 30hp. One of our experienced staff will give you instructions on the fundamentals of boat driving and the safety rules. We will ensure that you feel confident before your departure.

2) How do I make a reservation to rent a boat from Thassos Island Boats?

It is recommended that a reservation is made to ensure the availability of your preferred boat.

You can either make a reservation via mobile/WhatsApp/Viber and pay the 50% deposit via bank transfer or visit us at one of our stations, either at Thassos Island Boats at Skala Potamia Old Port, or Golden Beach Watersports front desks at Cielo Beach Bar or between La Boheme Beach Bar and Beach Bar Paralia Nouveau where a 50% deposit can be paid by card or cash. The remainder of the payment is made before departure.

3) Is fuel included in the price?

Fuel is not included in the payment. The boat’s tank is full on departure and your consumption must be paid in full on your return.

4) Is there a map on the boat?

Of course! Before your departure you will be briefed on all the amazing places that you can visit and then you will be given a detailed map to take with you.

5) What shall we bring with us for our day on the boat?

  • Personal Identification: You must bring an ID or Passport with you on the day of departure. This is required to be able to rent the boat.
  • Electronic devices: It is important that you stay in contact therefore make sure that your mobile is fully charged and consider bringing a power bank with you.
  • Sun Protection: Make sure that you and your family are well protected from the hot mediterranean sun and make sure to apply sun screen before your day on the boat.
  • We also advise you to bring hats, sunglasses and personal snorkeling gear.
  • Refreshments and snacks: Bring a cooler and ice even though there is a small cooler on board that requires ice for your beverages and snacks.
  • Hydration: It is very important that you bring ample water for your trip.

6) Can we pull in close to the beaches with the boat?

No! You must stay outside the designated swimming areas at a distance of approximately 200 meters from the beaches. Before your departure you will be shown how to use the anchor on the boat and you will be expected to use it and swim ashore. Taking the boat near the shore in any area is prohibited.
